The beautiful island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean Sea with its mild climate, diverse scenery and beautiful sun sets, has captivated and inspired artists for centuries. Here Frederic Chopin composed some of his most moving sonatas and it was here Robert Graves wrote his famous "I, Claudius". Today the island attracts artists from all over the world, many settling down, while others stay for shorter periods, just to dig into the island's strong energies. Artist/photographer Jon Halvorsen now lives and works in Mallorca and gets most of his inspiration from the nature and the people there. After many years as an advertising and fashion photographer he now also enjoys creating sensual art photographs and arranging photographic workshops from the capital of Palma.
Photographic workshops, usually lasting for a week, are hosted on an ad hoc basis. The emphasis is not so much on the technical aspects, as more towards the artistic side; composition, colours, lighting and not least the creative process. With Palma`s fantastic and well preserved Casco Antiguo, the Old Town originating from Roman times, and the island's nature with everything from olive groves, valleys packed with orange trees to majestic mountain ranges, there is no lack of inspirational input!
